Start with a walk through Kotor’s Old Town, then follow the bay to Perast. From there, continue to Risan if you have time, or stay a little longer by the waterfront before heading back to Budva.
Set your navigation to Benovo car park. It’s a paid public car park outside the Old Town. From there, walk towards the city walls and enter through the River Gate on the Škurda side. Go towards St Tryphon’s Cathedral, after thet go Visit Church of St. Nicholas, then make your way to the Square of Arms by the Sea Gate. This gives you a walk through the Old Town at street level. See the municipal parking notice for Benovo.
Follow the bay road towards Perast and look for the parking signs as you approach the town. Walk along the waterfront to St Nicholas Church, then look out towards St George and Our Lady of the Rocks. You can see both islands from shore, so the stop works even if you’ve only got time for a walk.
The Roman Mosaics are a good reason to go on to Risan. The remains of a Roman villa include a floor mosaic of Hypnos, the god of sleep. Check opening hours before you set off. If the site is closed or you’ve spent longer in Perast, you can head back to Budva from there. See the Roman Mosaics at Muzeji Kotor.
If you only have half a day. Start at Benovo, walk through Kotor’s Old Town, then go straight to the waterfront in Perast. Leave Risan for a day when you can make it to the mosaics during opening hours.
